Naomi Haworth

Hi, I am Naomi and I will be working with PHLI beginning in August 2023! My first year will be devoted to learning the language, while also leading a discipleship group and volunteering at PHLI and SPH. I have always had a heart for the nations, and a practical way to love and serve a community is through the gift of education. My heart for teaching ESL grew when I tutored refugees and taught English in Indonesia--English is a valuable skill that opens doors of opportunity. I love PHLI's holistic and gospel-centered approach to education, as well as their mission to raise up future leaders of Papua who are of strong and godly character. For fun, I like to paint, play the guitar and piano, and get outdoors with friends!

DOMINIK BESIER

I am the Chief Academic Officer, which means that I am responsible for planning, coordinating, and overseeing the academic team and program. Additionally, each semester, I have the opportunity to teach some classes. I am thrilled to be a part of this ministry, which aims to educate young Papuans and equip them to become future leaders of Papua. If we aspire to see change in Papua, we must allow God to work in the hearts and lives of these young people. This is what excites me about PHLI. Our goal is not merely to teach good English or academic skills but to educate followers of Christ who will make a positive impact in Papua.

CHARISSA BERRY

I am a part of the development team at Papua Hope Language Institute, working as their outreach coordinator. I am passionate and excited about my work at PHLI and the opportunity to be a part of an institute committed to - training and bringing up Godly leaders for the future of Papua. During my weekends here in Papua I have been enjoying finding times to play indoor soccer and running off to the beach as much as possible.

JORDAN ABBOTT

I am a language instructor at PHLI and have been primarily teaching reading and writing. I have a passion for helping and assisting people to reach their goals, especially language goals. Having been raised in Papua I love to see the success of Papuan students in English. I love being a part of an organization that is dedicated to the academic and spiritual growth of young Papuan leaders who will have a positive impact on the future of this island and the world. On a personal note I have spent several years in America, South Africa and Indonesia and love to travel and experience different cultures and learn from people of different backgrounds. I love to go outdoors and try to spend as much time as possible by the ocean either fishing or surfing.

MATT BASINGER

I am the Director at Papua Hope Language Institute. The transition from adolescence to adulthood is a pivotal time of growth, a fulcrum-point. I am captivated and humbled by the role that higher education plays in this “fulcrum season," through learning and professional development, but more importantly through spiritual formation and development of personal identity. I thoroughly enjoy my work at Papua Hope and the opportunity to come along side students in this season of life. In my role specifically I get to direct our team of teachers and support staff as they help the future leaders of Papua explore and move out into the world. I previously worked in solar-PV rural electrification in Papua and SE Asia, and I look forward to incorporating my science & engineering background into the educational opportunities at Papua Hope.

JAIME CUTTS KOCH

Hi, my name is Jaime and I work as a Development Coordinator at PHLI. Although this is my first year with PHLI, I actually grew up in Papua, and my daughter and I are the third and fourth generations of my family to live here. As someone who has always been passionate about helping Papuans, especially in the areas of character development and education, I was extremely excited to learn about the vision and mission of PHLI. This organization offers an incredible opportunity to set Papuan students up for success in education, while also equipping and encouraging them to become future leaders of Papua, who seek to make a difference in the lives of their own people. The island of Papua has always held a very special place in my heart, and I'm honored to be part of a team of professionals who have chosen to love and serve Papuans.
